Grains and oilseeds: heavy blow to shipments

KIYV/BRUSSELS. Russia has intensified its missile attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure with a barrage of rockets being fired at several parts of the country on Friday morning. Loading of grains and oilseeds is also slow to pick up in the port of Odessa after recent attacks as power cuts are frequent, truck freight costs are up and trucks are lacking. Yet, Ukraine has managed to export 19.7 million mt of grains in 2022/2023 so far, which however is 31.5% down on the 28.7 million mt exported in the same period last year. Russia may, by contrast, be able to increase exports to 25.5 million mt.
