Spice market update: black pepper is becoming scarce

After cumin prices had already climbed with astonishingly large steps in the last few weeks, they have now exploded once again. Within one week, the increase was more than 15%, and for the whole of June it was even more than 25%. Some market players report that a cumin cartel has been established in India, manipulating the relationship between supply and demand and thus driving up prices.
