Cocoa: Germany exports 100,000 mt

FRANKFURT. According to the Federal Statistical Office, cocoa bean imports to Germany have increased dramatically in 2017. The country is also an important exporter of cocoa powder.

 

Cocoa bean imports are on the rise

Cocoa bean imports to Germany increased to almost 450,000 mt in 2017. The most important suppliers are the Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Nigeria. Germany moreover purchases beans in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Germany has in addition purchased 133,000-145,000 mt of cocoa butter in the Netherlands, Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana over the last few years. Exports amount to 70,000-75,000 mt. The most important buyers are Poland, Italy and Belgium.
