Cocoa: Drop in Grindings

BRUSSELS. According to the European Cocoa Association (ECA) Cocoa grindings have jumped to a six-year high in the EU. Contrary to this, grindings in Germany have dropped. And yet, a minor turnaround may be observed.

 

EU grindings increase

Cocoa bean grindings may have dropped to 353,286 mt in Q4 as compared to Q3 2017, but in the year-on-year comparison grindings have gained by 4.4%. Total EU grindings amount to 1.38 M mt in 2017 – an increase of 2.6% as compared to 2016. Grindings are thereby approaching the record value of 1.44 M mt achieved in 2011.
