Spice market update: turmeric sales decline significantly

GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, coriander and turmeric, chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

Cumin

The market has been rather quiet in the past few days due to weak demand and the Raksha Bandhan holiday on Monday. The mandi in Unjha was reopened this week and has recorded good arrivals. Overall, overseas buying interest in particular leaves much to be desired and trade is based primarily on domestic demand. Cumin futures continue to be very volatile. Grade A cumin is trading at USD 1,895 per metric tonne this week, which shows a slight drop in price.
