GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, coriander and chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

The price increases hoped for by Indian cumin suppliers have not materialized; on the contrary, prices have fallen again compared to last week. The mandis are literally flooded with the new crop and as long as this influx continues, prices are likely to fall further. Local traders estimate that the peak phase will be over by mid-April. Large carry-over stocks are putting additional pressure on prices, as exporters want to get rid of their old stocks to make room for the new crop.
