Spice market update: massive increase in cardamom production

GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, coriander and turmeric, chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

Cumin

Traders are eager to see if demand will increase significantly with the upcoming Indian Holi celebrations at the end of March and Ramadan in mid-April; cumin sales usually increase during these months. The arrivals on the markets are of better quality than a few weeks ago and the moisture content of currently 12% should further decrease in the near future. Good export demand from China, the Middle East and Europe is keeping prices at a stable level, although there could be price reductions as arrivals increase.
