GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, coriander and turmeric, chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

Cumin

Even though the Federation of Indian Spices Stakeholders (FISS) reports that cumin production might decrease noticeably compared to last year, India still accounts for about 80% of world production. The most important cultivation areas are Gujarat and Rajasthan. According to market players, demand in March is very good, both domestic and overseas. Exporters who have done business with China and the Gulf states have to fulfil their contracts by 21 March and 21 April respectively, and have stocked up accordingly.
