Spice market update: cardamom farmers expect record crop

GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, coriander and turmeric, chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

Cumin

Recurring lockdowns due to rising new coronavirus infections and hardly any buying interest on the spot market are causing difficulties for market players. Exports are also rather poor, due to strict border controls. Nevertheless, there is demand from the USA and Europe. Availability on the markets is good thanks to steady arrivals, but farmers expect this year's crop to be smaller than in 2020. The same applies to the crops of export competitors Turkey and Syria. Export prices have increased slightly in recent weeks and are at USD 2,095/kg FOB India for Grade
