Butter: Surge in EU exports

FRANKFURT/BRUSSELS. Retailers in Germany are anything but satisfied with the current sales figures for table butter and the market for bulk butter remains difficult. In the EU the butter prices have changed direction and the US offers high potential for the exporters in the EU.

Demand revises in Germany and in the EU

Although the consumers have returned from their holidays and trading activities have fully resumed retail market demand for table butter is largely subdued. The prices for table butter range firm at EUR 3.50-3.75 per kg at the butter and cheese exchange in Kempten. Contrary to this, demand has fully revived for bulk butter with prices currently ranging at EUR 3.65 per kg.
