FRANKFURT/LODZ. Although the market for bulk butter in Germany remains struck after speculators caused an unexpected plunge in prices, there are signs of revival.

New contract to be negotiated

Retail demand for packed butter has revived. The current contract has, however, only been concluded for one month, meaning that new prices need to be negotiated for November with the food retailers. Market players reckon that the new contract will be instrumental for the further price development for fats. Diaries and traders have already been asked to submit offers. The revival in demand has caused the prices for packed butter, 250 g to remain on a stable level of 5,10-5,20 EUR/kg.
