Butter: revival in EU market activities

FRANKFURT/BRUSSELS. Although the weekly EU butter prices range lower, market activities are slowly picking up in Germany and in Poland.

Nominal rise

As the EU Commission states, the weekly EU butter price ranges at EUR 3.65 per kg, which is 15% lower than last year and a decline of 1.9% over the first week in January. Contrary to this, bulk butter is trading in a firmer range in Germany as the prices in the lower range have risen at the butter and cheese exchange in Kempten, where bulk butter is currently trading in a range of EUR 3.60-3.65 per kg EXW. After months of limited trading activities demand has now reportedly started to pick up again.
