Butter: challenging prices

KEMPTEN/BRUSSELS. High butter prices are quite a challenge for confectioners and bakeries in Germany. EU exports have also climbed to a record high value and EU prices are retaining an all time high.

Difficult market situation in Germany

Milk deliveries are still recording a seasonal low in Germany with the blue tongue disease further limiting arrivals in parts of the country as the Southern German Butter and Cheese Exchange in Kempten reports. Revenues are high for table butter, which is currently quoted at EUR 8.50-8.80/kg in Kempten on the back of high demand.
