Butter: buyers caught out cold

FRANKFURT/BRUSSELS. Some buyers have been taken by surprise in Germany. Prices in Poland have taken a dip. In addition, a turnaround has been observed for the average butter prices in the EU.

Prices may rise in Germany

Some buyers in Germany have been taken by surprise by the fact that there are no cheap offers available for bulk butter, which is normally the case after the holidays in January. These buyers are now looking for contracts to purchase the volumes required. The high demand for bulk butter has nominally driven up the higher end of the price level quoted at the Butter and Cheese Exchange in Kempten to EUR 3.60-3.70 per kg.
