Walnuts: Prices range nominally higher than last year

SACRAMENTO. Intitial estimates stated that US production would be similar in size to last year. Subjective production estimates are to be issued soon.

New crop is already on sale

While the estimates issued in May saw US production range nominally higher than last year, the market is less optimisitc now. The adverse weather conditions, which caused the production estimates for almonds to be cut back, may also have an impact on walnut production. Unofficial estimates currently range between 615,000  and 635,000 metric tonnes.
