Walnuts: decline in production drives up prices

CHISINAU/KIEV. Market players report that production has considerably declined in some parts of Eastern Europe. Not all producing countries are, however, affected.

Encouraging prospects in Moldova

Production is currently reckoned to have dropped by 20% in the Ukraine. Reports state that storms shook many fruits from the trees at an early stage of development. The first shipments are to take place between the end of October and the beginning of November. Prices tend to be higher due to the limited supplies in the global market.
