BUDAPEST. Traders in Hungary have adapted to a new market situation with prices taking a drastic turn.

Drastic declines

The market prices have declined considerably in Hungary with the individual walnut types trading 0.10-0.20 EUR/kg lower than last week. The prices for LQP walnuts have even declined by as much as 0.55 EUR/kg within only one week. Some traders report that they have never witnessed such drastic before. Market players reckon that record supplies are pushing down prices. The trend is notably fuelled by the bumper crop in California with US production currently being estimated at 610,285 mt.
