Walnuts: first new crop arrivals in Hungary

SANTIAGO/BUDAPEST. Chile is most certainly gaining ground in the global market. In the recently issued Tree Nuts Annual for Chile the USDA expects exports to rise in 2019/2020. Meanwhile, the new crop has arrived in Hungary.

Production and exports are set to rise in Chile

According to Chile Customs, in-shell exports from Chile have surged by 44% to 92,149 metric tonnes between January and July as compared with the same period last year. Although Turkey continues to be the top export destination, shipments have declined by 1% to 18,199 metric tonnes. Chile seeks to reduce its dependence on Turkey and to diversify its export destinations. Exports to the United Arab Emirates have risen by as much as 166% to 14,464 metric tonnes and to Germany, which ranks third, by 28% to 7,704 metric tonn
