Spice market update: wedding season boosts demand

GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, coriander and turmeric, chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

Cumin

As in previous weeks, the upward trend in cumin prices continues. Some buyers were temporarily hesitant and demand eased, but this was short-lived and the market quickly recovered. Traders and stockists are satisfied with their profits this season and experts do not expect significant price reductions soon. Due to the still higher prices for goods from Turkey and Syria, Indian cumin remains in demand among foreign buyers. Cumin, grade A is trading at USD 2,930/mt FOB India this week.
