GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, coriander and turmeric, chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

Cumin

After the downturn witnessed in recent weeks prices have become more stable now. Although farmers still hold large supplies they are only selling small volumes at a time to support the market. Although arrivals normally pick up after Holi, things are totally different this year. Issue is that heavy rains and forecasted high temperatures may reduce yields and have prompted farmers to hope for higher prices if they manage to hold back supplies. The local government intends to issue a first estimate on the damages in the next few days.
