GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, turmeric and chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

Cumin

While cumin quotations remained firm last week, they continued to slide this week. Local traders, however, expect the situation to improve soon as demand is on the rise in leading importing countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran as well as in China. Global supplies are also declining. India’s highly attractive prices are drawing buyers. Farmers are also trying to raise prices by holding back. Prices will, therefore, remain firm and eventually be driven up by demand. A grade cumin is trading at USD 3,495/mt FOB India.
