GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, coriander and turmeric, chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

Cumin

The prices for cumin have risen sharply again and presently range at USD 3,110/mt FOB India. Issue is that freight rates have declined, which has boosted international demand. While traders report that prices have hit USD 3,500-3,900/mt in Turkey, Syria and Afghanistan, the prices in India are more attractive. China has even purchased 3,000 mt in India in recent days and demand is higher than anticipated in Bangladesh. Demand should also recover in Europe after the summer holidays and prices are expected to rise to USD 3,250/mt FOB/India in September.
