Spice market update: chilli farmers fear crop damage

GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, coriander and turmeric, chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

Cumin

After the cumin market had experienced an upward trend in recent weeks, prices have now settled at a level of USD 2,170/mt FOB India for grade A quality. Indian market players report that sowings in Rajasthan have almost halved this year compared to 2020 and significant declines are also expected in Gujarat. Therefore, the new crop is currently expected to be only half the size of last year. Demand is persistently good in both the domestic and export markets, which further supports prices.
