Spice market update: cardamom prices drop significantly

GUJARAT. Weekly monitoring with the latest market information from India on cumin, coriander and turmeric, chilli, black pepper and cardamom as well as a price list for more than 70 products.

Cumin

The demand for cumin, especially from overseas buyers, has increased noticeably. This is also pushing prices up. Market players believe that buying interest will not diminish in the coming days as less cumin has been sown and the spice is therefore in demand. Meanwhile, the mandi in Rajkot will remain closed for a few days due to heavy rains. Exports are doing satisfactorily: between January and July, India shipped 163,116 mt overseas, compared to 156,858 mt in the same period last year. Exports declined temporarily between May and July.
