Pine nuts: Prices reach record level

DALIAN. Since September 2018 the prices for pine nuts have increased steadily. In recent weeks, however, prices have risen particularly rapidly.

Only regular customers still buy
Currently the export prices for Chinese pine nuts Pinus Sibirica for prompt shipment are between 27,200-27,500 USD/mt CFR Hamburg and thus reaches a new record high. As a reminder: In July 2017 the prices for Chinese pine nuts had fallen below 10,000 USD/mt CFR Hamburg.

Due to the limited availability of raw nuts, traders are reluctant to offer more than one container at a time. However, the buyers are also reluctantly purchasing after the massive price increase. Market participants report that only large European and US traders
