ORDU. Production estimates should be issued inTurkey by early June. Meanwhile, the TMO has sold all volumes for May.

Next count to take place after Ramadan

Reports state that the Exporters Association intends to conduct new counts in the last week of May - after the end of Ramadan. Official production estimates should follow in June and the market is expected to remain relatively quiet until then. The farmgate prices for natural hazelnut kernels, 11-13 mm, have again risen to TRY 51 per kg because of limited supplies. Spot purchases are limited as the current prices for the new crop are unattractive for many buyers. Market players, however, reckon that prices will decline once the production estimates have been issued.

Limited TMO stocks

The TMO issued its final round of sales for the season in May. In addition, the organisation is expected to market its remaining stocks itself, which should only have a limited impact on further market developments. The Turkish Lira has declined to a 2.5-year low and market players are by no means reckoning with a recovery in May. However, it should be noted that the currency has stabilised in recent days.
