Hazelnuts: new TMO sales in April

Concerns over business for Easter

The volatile exchange rate, coupled with speculatively held hazelnuts being sold has prompted a nominal decline in farmgate price to TRY 39.75 per kg. Many traders are afraid of a crash prompted by the coronavirus crisis. Some are restocking their inventories to be prepared. Although production has not been impacted so far, the closure of borders will most certainly mean that shipments will take longer than usual. Turkey has shipped more than 237,000 metric tonnes of hazelnuts overseas this season so far, nearly 58,000 metric tonnes
