Hazelnuts: Strong Lira, tough prices

ORDU. Turkish hazelnut farmers have virtually stopped delivering to the TMO, while simultaneously striving to export at least 20,000 mt of hazelnuts until the end of the year.

Deliveries dwindle
The farmers have supplied the TMO with around 140,000 mt of hazelnuts up to now, and there are no further registrations at the moment. The hazelnut market has calmed down in the days before Christmas. The largest buyer, Ferrero, seems to have their stock covered sufficiently, and besides Ferrero, there are less and less new buy offers on the market.

Market participants assume that exports will total around 130,000 mt at the end of the year, so far exporters delivered more than 107.700 mt to foreign countries. Distributors are running out of t
