Hazelnuts: Start to the harvest in Giresun

GIRESUN/ORDU. The harvest has only just commenced in Giresun. Yields are lower than last year.

 

Old crop trades higher

Prospects are, however, much more encouraging in orchards located higher than 500 m. Many growers are, nevertheless, all but satisfied. Although neither Ferrero not the TMO have even so much as commented on the prices for the new crop, it is expected that prices will rise above the current level. This has prompted traders to raise the prices for last year’s crop to as much as 4.70 EUR/kg DDP Germany.
