Hazelnuts: speculations dominate the market

ORDU. Good sales figures and the improved financial situation in Turkey have prompted exporters to conduct speculative buying. The TMO has already purchased more than 70,000 metric tonnes and Ferrero has also geared up for the season. In addition, measures are called for to imporve yields.

Exports only just below record

The TMO has so far reportedly purchased 70,000-75,000 metric tonnes of hazelnuts so far. This volume may double by the end of the month. Ferrero is also said to have already stocked up on 130,000 metric tonnes and exports range above 50,000 metric, which nearly is a record. If this trend continues, buyers will have reckon with higher prices over the next few months.
