ORDU. The estimates for the Turkish hazelnut crop in 2018 have once again been revised upwards after the latest counts. Plans to consolidate the exchange rate are set to be discussed this week.

Stable currency is desirable

In the run-up to last Sunday's presidential elections in Turkey, no clear outcome could be predicted. The actual outcome is, however, anything but surprising: President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received 52.6% of the vote. He retains his absolute majority and remains in office.

For the time being, the election results have led to a stabilisation of the Turkish lira. This week the measures to strengthen the currency will be discussed with the independent Central Bank.
