ORDU. Exports of Turkish hazelnuts this season are comparable to those of 2015, although prices have gone down by 50% since.

Exports have declined by 18% to 101.178 mt against 2016. There will probably be a sufficient supply of hazelnuts for the season of 2016/17 due to the large carry-over stock from the year before.

Clever purchasing decisions?
After the sharp fall last week prices have increased again but are still not quite on last year’s level. Prices were at their lowest point in months which was a sufficient reason for many buyers to stock up for the months to come. Farmers, however, are interpreting these purchases to their benefit and have raised their prices for raw nuts.
After the last purchases to fill up stocks the exchange rate and development of the Turkish Lira will remain a decisive factor for prices for a while.
