Market players hold the TMO responsible for the surprising downturn in prices. Although the agency is purchasing hazelnuts, the quality standards are very high. Much higher in fact than last year. Many nuts have been rejected and most farmers are now selling these nuts to traders. This has led to unexpectedly large supplies, which have caused prices to take a temporary dip.
