ORDU. Rumour has it that the TMO has a budget of 3 billion lira. With this, the state-run organisation, could in theory buy up to 180,000 metric tonnes of hazelnuts. In addition, the purchasing conditions are not quite as strict this year with regards to quality.

The reaction of the farmers is decisive

In this way, the state organisation plays into the hands of the farmers. The maximum kernel-shell ratio stands at 40% are purchased, whereas last year's figure stood higher at 46%.  This year, the TMO has set up more than 100 percuhasing stations in the Black Sea region, which is almost twice as much as lst year. The farmers can apply for dates as of 19th August. It should be noted that the TMO purchasing price of TRY 16.50-17.00 kg provides the farmers with a good price guarantee, which gives them time.
