ORDU. Experts expect a good hazelnut production in Turkey for the 2019/20 season. However, it cannot be ruled out that the start of harvesting will be somewhat delayed.

Start of harvest may be delayed
Last week, the first production estimates were made in the Turkish hazelnut market on the basis of fruit sets. According to reports, at best average results can be expected on the eastern Black Sea coast, while in other regions the counts were satisfactory. Overall, the market should be able to expect a good harvest of 700,000-730,000 mt hazelnuts in shell. Due to the long cool temperatures, the development of the nuts is delayed, which is why the harvest is currently expected to start about seven to ten days later.
