ORDU. Due to the upcoming Easter holidays, activity in the European market is expected to die down in the next few weeks. Trading activity in the Turkish hazelnut market is, however, already low as it is.

Initial estimates are optimistic
Since the beginning of the season, more than 185,000 mt of hazelnuts have been shipped abroad from Turkey. Beside ongoing contracts, purchasers are still holding back on prompt enquiries, and in the weeks around Easter, market participants are anticipating quiet market conditions.

Weather forecasts for the coming weeks are good, while spring frost is not expected for the time being. Within the market, initial crop estimates are circulating, with 600,000-650,000 mt of hazelnuts in shell being expected for 2018.&nb
