Hazelnuts: Ferrero operates under cover

ORDU. Although the TMO is buying at highly attractive prices, there are surprisingly large volumes of raw nuts available. Ferrero has also announced a new bid price but also adopts a very cautious approach to the current market situation.

 

TMO rejects hazelnuts

Although the TMO has issued highly attractive bid prices of 14.00-14.50 TRY/kg, only very limited volumes have been purchased. Problem is that not only the prices but also the quality standards are high, and many nuts have been rejected, which are now being offered to the free market. Traders, however, reckon that this is only a temporary effect.

So far, the large volumes on offer have failed to impact farmgate prices. Instead it is rather the case that the average export prices to Europe have gone up. It should be noted
