ORDU. Not only has Ferrero stirred disappointment but the EU’s political agenda is also having quite an impact on the market for hazelnuts. This season’s high prices have evidently failed to put off buyers as Turkey’s exports have surged by a stunning 26%.

Disappointed with Ferrero

Ferrero and political developments have prompted a rather surprising twist in prices. Stakeholders are rather disappointed with Ferrero’s recent shopping spree. The market giant started purchasing a limited volume of 4,500-5,000 mt of 13-15 mm raw nuts without any quality specifications on 14 February. Purchasing prices ranged at TRY 285-290/kg. Yet, the offer failed to impress the market and stakeholders anticipating price rises have expressed their disappointment.
