Hazelnuts: Farmgate prices may rise to 20 TRY/kg

Buyers benefit from contracts

The Turkish lira has declined again last week. This does, however, by no means compensate for the high farmgate prices. Due to current prices ranging at 17.00 TRY/kg, the export prices have increased considerably. Since most buyers have secured long-term contracts, panic reactions have so far failed to materialize in Europe. Turkey has shipped nearly 170,000 mt of hazelnut kernels overseas since the beginning of the season.
