ORDU. Hazelnut growers in Turkey are determined to drive up farmgate prices. Problem is that they are holding back.

Natural kernels approach EUR 6.00/kg

Exporters are finding it increasingly difficult to buy hazelnuts. Problem is that the growers are holding back in a desperate bid to drive up farmgate prices to TRY 25-30/kg. This has also given the export market a lift.  Natural hazelnut kernels, 11-13 mm, are trading at EUR 5.95/kg, around EUR 0.20/kg higher than over the last few weeks. As long as the growers are not forced sell market players are very much concerned that these prices will stay. Overseas shipments for hazelnut kernels range at 12,511 mt this season so far
