Hazelnuts: New crop estimates regarded with caution

ORDU. This year's International Nut and Dried Fruit Congress (INC) has started in Seville today. The market is eagerly awaiting this year’s crop estimates from Turkey.

 

Nominal increase in global demand
With global supplies amounting to 1,23 million mt, the estimated global demand of 1,10 million mt is more than covered in 2018/19. Global demand is set to only nominally increase from 1,01 million in 2017/18. Acreage has, for instance, increased considerably over the last few years. No new product trends, as is the case with i.e almonds (almond milk), are being followed.
