Hazelnuts: Crop estimates differ greatly

Lira on a firmer course

The Turkish lira gained about 4.5% in value last week. This trend is, however, expected to be short-lived and mainly supported by the new elections to be held in Istanbul on 23 June. Market analysts reckon that Turkey will in fact experience a more severe economic slump this year.

Optimist, pessimist or realist?

Turkish hazelnut producers reportedly complained loudly last week that the production estimates for Turkey had been released at the INC Congress.
