Cashews: Tanzania seeks support from India

NEW DELHI/DODOMA. The government of Tanzania is desperately looking for a cooperation with companies in India and seized the opportunity to meet representatives at last week’s India - East Africa Business Forum and Exhibition.

Cooperation required

The forum provided the government of Tanzania with a welcome opportunity to seek buyers and investors for the domestic cashew market. Not only is India leading producer of RCN with annual production ranging at 800,000 mt, the country also imports roughly the same volumes from producers in Africa. Tanzania has now offered the RCN purchased from local producers last year for sale and is seeking investments in local processing plants.
