NEW DELHI/HANOI. Traders in India report a decline in demand for cashew kernels. In addition, the processors have now adapted to more specific customer requirements. They hope to push up sales.

Producers in India are dissatisfied

For the second week in a row, the prices for cashew kernels have declined in India. Since small and large processors are confronted with too few enquiries, they have consequently cut their RCN purchases. They are only buying what they need and will even cut their profit margins to keep their businesses running.

The decline in prices is particularly dramatic for the growers. In India, the harvest has not yet been completed and new arrivals to the spot markets continue every day. The arrivals so far indicate an average crop.
