Cashews: RCN purchased in Tanzania

HANOI/NEW DELHI. The government in Tanzania has finally succeeded in finding a trustworthy buyer. Although the aim is to support RCN prices, traders are sceptical.

Bulk buyer for Tanzania

Reports state that the Tang Long Group from Vietnam has purchased 176,000 metric tonnes of RCN from Tanzania. The nuts are to be shipped between September and October. Tanzania had intitially attempted to process last year's RCN production on a national level and gain higher profits in selling cashews kernels. Unfortunately, however, the country lacks enough processing plants and was left searching in vain for a buyer of the national RCN production in vain. RCN supplies in Tanzania are estimated at 225,000 to 250,000 metric tonnes,
