DODOMA/NEW DELHI. With the decision of the government in Tanzania to buy up the entire national crop and have it processed domestically, the state appears to have neglected the practical aspects.

Previous production estimates were mainly based on the producers' sales volumes. The producers, however, offer their RCN at different times, partly during flowering and partly after the harvest has been completed. This leads to different assumptions regarding production and are inconsistencies, which the government now has to deal with. Final production estimates will only be available once all farmers have been reviewed.
