HANOI/DODOMA. The comparatively cool temperatures of the past few days are a problem for the farmers in Vietnam and present a risk for the coming harvest.

 

Weather poses a risk in Vietnam

In Vietnam it is flowering time and some cashew trees have already started to form the first fruits. Around this time of year, warm weather usually benefits the development of the nuts, but since the end of December it has been unusually cold in some growing regions. Farmers fear that, as in previous years, these weather conditions will result in crop losses this year.
