HANOI. Further price increases are expected in the cashew market in the short run. The government in Tanzania has introduced measures that have risen the raw nut prices for processors from Asia ...

... RCN are now trading for 3.80-3.90 USD/lbs. Such high prices are simply unaffordable. An estimated 220,000 mt of RCN from last year’s crop are still available in Tanzania. Vietnamese processors can partly compensate with RCN from Nigeria and the Côte d'Ivoire. In terms of quality, however, the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire cannot compete with Tanzania. Since the RCN from Côte d’Ivoire are mainly processed into broken kernels the price difference between whole and broken cashew kernels is therefore expected to grow.
