Cashew kernels: Strong demand prompts temporary increase in prices

HANOI/NEW DELHI. Strong domestic demand is currently driving up cashew prices in the Indian market. However, market players expect prices to remain stable or even drop in the long term.

Contrary to the expectations of some traders, prices for cashew nuts have continued to drop. Many buyers appear to have already stocked up, covering their demand up to the end of the calendar year. From time to time, there are still enquiries for deliveries until February 2019. As demand from China is lagging, Vietnamese exporters still have larger stocks of lower-grade goods available.
