MADRID. Despite the good crop estimates in Spain, the prices for the old crop are not dropping as expected.

The National Nuts Bureau recently published its estimates for 2017/18. With more than 57,000 mt, the crop is set to not only reach a 5-year high, but would also exceed the 5-year average by almost 25%.

Stagnant prices

Nonetheless, the prices are starting to stabilise. Market players warn against too much optimism and consider that any estimates should be treated with caution. After all, the crop is still not available. As a result, the prices are currently largely stable, while lower and lower prices were being observed over the last few weeks.
